Does a platform lift need a shaft?
When no shaft is needed and when a shaft is the best answer.
Short answer
LK-1, AK-1 and AK-2 need no shaft. KN-45 can be installed in its own framed enclosure (glass, metal or plastic) or in a building shaft.
Open lifts – no shaft
AK-1 and AK-2 are open platform lifts guarded by gates and a ramp flap; no shaft or machine room is needed.
KN-45 – enclosure or shaft
For several floors KN-45 can have its own framed enclosure, often simpler than building a masonry shaft.
